Article Processing Charge

All articles published in the Journal of Operations Intelligence (JOI), ISSN 3009-4267, are published in full open access and are freely available to readers immediately upon publication.

Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication in the Journal of Operations Intelligence are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 2500 GBP.

The APC is charged only after a manuscript has successfully completed the peer-review process and has been formally accepted for publication. There are no submission charges and no fees for manuscripts that are rejected.

The APC supports the journal's editorial and peer-review administration, copyediting, typesetting, preparation of publication files, online publication, long-term digital archiving, dissemination, journal management, and other publishing-related services.

JOI does not impose additional mandatory charges based on article length, number of pages, number of figures or tables, color figures, or supplementary material.

Certain publication items that do not constitute standard research or review articles, including Editorials, Corrections, Expressions of Concern, Retractions, Addenda, and similar editorial notices, may be published without an APC where appropriate.

APC Confirmation and Payment

During submission, the submitting or corresponding author must acknowledge the applicable APC and confirm that the charge will be paid if the manuscript is accepted for publication.

The APC may be paid by the author, the author's institution, research funder, sponsor, or another authorized third party. Responsibility for ensuring that appropriate payment arrangements are completed remains with the submitting or corresponding author.

No APC payment is requested as a condition for peer review. A payment request or invoice is issued only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

Following acceptance, the manuscript enters the journal's production process. The applicable APC must be paid before the final article is published online, unless another payment arrangement has been expressly approved by the Publisher.

Editorial Independence

The obligation to pay an APC has no influence on the peer-review process or editorial decision. Manuscripts are evaluated solely according to their scholarly quality, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, compliance with the journal's editorial policies, and the outcome of the peer-review process.

Editors and reviewers involved in the scholarly assessment of a manuscript do not base their recommendations or decisions on an author's ability, willingness, or obligation to pay the APC.

Waivers and Discounts

Journal of Operations Intelligence does not currently offer APC waivers or discounts. Authors should ensure that appropriate funding, institutional support, or other financial arrangements are available before proceeding with publication following acceptance.

Refunds

Article Processing Charges (APCs) are non-refundable once payment has been made.

No refund will be provided if an author withdraws an accepted article, decides not to proceed with publication, or for any other reason after payment has been completed.

Payment of the APC does not limit the journal's responsibility to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record. Following publication, JOI may issue a Correction, Expression of Concern, Retraction, or other appropriate post-publication notice where required under the journal's publication ethics policies. No APC refund will be provided as a consequence of such post-publication action.
